Legacy of Ra slot is the most recent addition to Blueprint’s Megaways range, the mechanic being licensed from Big Time Gaming and used in classics such as Bonanza and Dragon Born. This time around there’s something very different as Blueprint have attempted to combine the Novomatic expanding scatter bonus used in games such as Lord Of The Ocean with a multiway model. BTG actually tried this first with Book Of Gods which many players absolutely panned, so we must hope this turns out to be an improvement. The theme is pretty generic with Egyptian music, a temple behind the reels and relevant icons you may have seen before on Book Of Ra for example. Will the legacy of this Megaways game be a bust for your bankroll though?

On The Reels.

Legacy of Ra slot has 2 to 5 rows available on all the 6 reels therefore can offer anything from 64 to 15625 ways per spin. You only need to pay 10 coins and the 6-of-a-kind pays aren’t bad with the Lady Explorer at 25x bet, Ra Bird 5x, Pharaoh and Scarab 2.5x with six card values paying either 1 x or 0.5x for a full way. Wilds can appear individually on all reels except the first although it’s possible to get 2 in view on a reel if 4 or 5 rows high. Game logo scatters also appear and they can be found on all six reels. There are no mystery symbols or random modifiers here as Legacy of Ra is all about the free games.

Having landed 3 or more Logo scatters you earn 10, 15, 25 or 50 free games. The slot will then select a symbol from all possible except scatter or Wild. This will become an expanding scatter so if any 3 or more appear anywhere in view you will be paid according to the pay table multiplied by the product of the rows they land one. So for example, if the game selects the King and it appears on a 3, 4 and 5-row reel, it then expands and you will be paid 3-of-a-kind multiplied 60 times, the product of those reel rows it appears in. Now with up to 15,625 ways available the theoretical maximum pay here is huge. You can also retrigger the spins in exactly the same way as the trigger works.

Our View.

The Legacy of Ra slot is an interesting concept but anybody can see the maths is pretty outrageous, a fact reflected when you actually do land the bonus. The game looks and sounds fine and the RTP is 96.01%, or 97.01% if you exclusively use the 100x bet feature buy facility which to many raises responsible gambling issues and is also extremely risky considering the highly volatile bonus. The slot rarely selects picture symbols as the expanding scatter and when you play the feature getting more than 3 expanding scatters is hard, 5 or 6 is pay dirt and therefore you’d be rewarded well but very lucky to see it happen. Time will tell if this game is well received, but if you do get that lucky 6OAK in the bonus then Ra could well bequeath you a legacy to remember.
